On this cold December morning, I sit watching the beautiful snow fall. Enjoying the comfort of my home, I am relieved to have a quiet day to catch up on my responsibilities. Unfortunately, despite the beauty and solitude of snow, it wreaks havoc on the lives of many living in our community. The snow adds additional hurdles to the daily struggles of those who already battle to secure childcare, food, and shelter.
The Women’s Fund of the Blue Ridge works constantly to support to our neighbors. This year, we met immediate needs by providing coats, money for gas and rent, gifts for children, and money for shelter. We met future needs by granting money for educational scholarships and for programs that empower women and girls.
We hope to continue our short and long-term efforts in the year to come. We cannot do this without the support of each of you. If you have not made your year-end contribution please do so today www.womensfundoftheblueridge.org/donate .
Thank you for your continued involvement and generosity.

Wants to Pack the Pantry!
A huge demand for food has been created by the many natural disasters which occurred this year. As a result, our local pantries are bare. We need your help to help pack our local food pantries. Please bring your non-perishable food items through Thursday December 21 to the van parked outside First National Bank located at 2111 Blowing Rock Road between 9 am and 5 pm.
Thank You 2017 Board Members
WFBR is a year-round giving organization. Working to make our community better cannot occur without the hard work and dedication of many volunteers. At the center of what we do is our generous board. The WFBR Board continually gives their time, talent, and financial support. We are lucky to have a strong and enthusiastic group of women leaders. Thank you 2017 Board Members for all that you have given.
2017 Holiday Shopping Bazaar
A good time was had by all who attended the 2017 Holiday Bazaar and Cocktail Party at the Blowing Rock Country Club on December 7th. This FUN fundraiser included shopping for goods from 21 local vendors, music by Hayes School of Music Student Chapter and the company of over 100 WFBR donors. We are thankful to Mary Hutchens, Barbara Aycock, Susan Duke, and Rebecca Moore for sponsoring this event.
It is not too late to include the Women’s Fund of the Blue Ridge in all of your holiday shopping. By selecting the Women’s Fund of the Blue Ridge as your non-profit organization at www.smile.amazon.com we will receive .5% of all purchases. Thank you for providing positive change and economic justice for women and girls in the High Country.
